Raise your hand if you've had a chance to watch MTV's Are You The One? This season has been crazy and has inspired me to write this post. If you haven't seen the show, MTV picked 10 single men and 10 single women and put them through an intense matchmaking process so they could find their perfect match then they placed them all under one roof in Hawaii. Now each of them has to figure out who is their perfect match. This is their chance to find a true love connection - plus winning a million dollars sounds pretty nice too.
I've been lucky enough to experience New York with my 'one'. We've been in the city for about 4 months now and I'm so happy I get to spend my weekend with him. Today I wanted to share the top 5 places we've discovered that make a great first date - or second, third, fourth, etc - in honor of MTV's newest show Are You The One.
The Sea Glass Carousel is fairly new to the city and probably one of the most beautiful, eccentric carousels that I have ever seen. You may have to wait in line for a while, but it's well worth it.
Yet another romantic carousel! NYC just seems to be full of them - I don't recall Virginia have many or any that were nearly as beautiful these. Jane's carousel is just $2 per ride and there's usually no wait. It also overlooks the Hudson River and Manhattan.
If you walk far down the Dumbo waterfront far enough, you'll eventually find these stairs that make a pretty great spot to enjoy ice cream - plus you'll be under the trees. Not many people realize you can get to this spot, making it the perfect place to enjoy the view in peace.
The whole museum is pretty amazing - and FREE - but if you make it to the Faile exhibit then you've hit the jackpot. You'll find an entire room of arcade games if you walk through far enough, making it a super fun place to take someone on a date. The games are free and you can play as long as you want so it's basically the perfect date if you're on a budget.
Grand Army Plaza is incredibly beautiful and romantic at night. There's a gorgeous fountain just past this archway where you can sit down and enjoy some delicious food from the food truck rally. It's right at the tip of Prospect Park, so if you decide head over towards Park Slope early the afternoon, you can spend the day strolling through the park and end the evening at Grand Army Plaza for the perfect date.
Those are just a few of the places that Jd and I have enjoyed together so far. I'm sure there are many more out there (and possibly far better), but these are the places that I have enjoyed the most with my favorite person in the whole world. They represent special moments that we've shared together during our first few moments in this new giant state we're taking on. I can't wait to see what else is out there for us to discover! Cheers to many more memories!
