DIY Plant Terrariums

I know It's been almost a month since my last post, which I feel awful about! This past month has been a whirlwind of adventure. I started a new job, which has kept me busy and exhausted, but I absolutely love it! I could not have asked or dreamed for a better job and I love every minute of it.

Jd and I are still doing projects each weekend, but I have been so horrible at uploading them. Now that I have been at my job for about a month, I think I have found a good work/life balance, so I promise I won't leave you hanging anymore.

This past weekend we make these really fun terrariums! We've been wanting to make these (especially Jd) for at least a year now, but never got around to it until recently.

Here's what you need if you want to make your own:

  • Glass jars (we found ours at the thrift store)
  • Moss (which you can find outside)
  • Rocks (we got ours out of a driveway)
  • Black plant charcoal (you can find this at a pet store that sells fish/aquariums)
  • Soil

First, you want to add the rocks to the bottom of the jar. Then you want to add a layer of black charcoal followed by a layer of soil. Finally, top it off with the moss. Having each of these layers will allow your plant to breathe and help filter the water.

These types of terrariums are pretty easy to do and if you have little plastic figurines, like we have in the photo above, they look pretty cool. You can get these at hobby stores or anywhere that they sell models. Hopefully you all enjoyed this post! I know it's brief, but stay tuned for more of our DIY projects as we decorate our apartment!
