This weekend was one for the books. I mean, nothing crazy or wild happened, but it was a special weekend. You might not find it exciting, but I thought it was worth writing about. As you can see above, I chopped off ALL OF MY HAIR! I cut about 10 inches off and now it is above my shoulders and I absolutely LOVE IT! Could not be happier with my stylist, Kristen Salopek from Bondi Blonde in Chester!
Friday, Jd and I hung out with several friends and our next door neighbor had a house show so we popped in for a bit. It was good to see our friends Ian and Lisa, I haven't had the chance to hang out with them much lately.
Saturday, was my biggest day! My best friend for over seven years, Anne Mae Weaver, came to visit all the way from Florida! I haven't seen her since she and her fiance, Cory, moved to Clearwater, Fla. about seven months ago. She came under sad circumstances, but we had a ladies night at The Daily to celebrate her recent engagement! Cory proposed to her on New Years Eve and I could not be more excited for the two of them!
Let's take a moment and take in how GORGEOUS her ring is! It is my dream engagement ring! I am obsessed with it and so happy for her to have it. Her and Cory deserve the best life. Did I mention that they have been dating for seven years? Seven seems to be the lucky number here. Let's break this down:
- 7 years: the amount of time I have known both Cory and Anna
- 7 years: the length of time Cory and Anna have been dating
- 7 months: the length of time Cory and Anna have been living Florida
Anyway, on Saturday, Anna, Lindsey (our old roommate and Anna's best friend), and myself all went out to dinner. We all lived together about four years ago and I haven't seen Lindsey much since I moved out so it was special catching up with her and seeing how all of lives have changed. Last time we were all together we were in college, unsure of where we were going and definitely had no idea about our relationship statuses. Now, we all have full-time, big-girl jobs and we are all in stable relationships. It is crazy what can happen in four years. We could actually afford to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner with bottles of wine.
Anna asked Lindsey and I to be her bridesmaids with the most adorable tote and flask, which represent some of the elements of her wedding (i.e. pink and lace). Lindsey will be her Maid of Honor and I get to be her bridesmaid! We are SO excited, but sad that we don't all get to be together while we help Anna plan. The big day is set for June 1, 2016 and their wedding hashtag is official #CoryJWedsAnnaMae! Follow her engagement on Instagram!
Sunday, started off slow. Jd and I slept in pretty late, but once we were up we were fairly productive! We kicked-off the day with these outstanding chicken biscuits from Harvest Grocery + Supply. I am not even kidding when I say it was outstanding. Many Richmonders will go above and beyond over Saison Market's chicken biscuit, which I will say was my favorite, until I tried this one. I don't know how they did it, but this was the flakiest, moistest chicken I have ever had. The flavor was so unique, I couldn't even figure out what it was. If they serve them up again and you are in Richmond, VA, PLEASE go try one!
Also, my good friends Krysten Reid and Zach Smith have been traveling across the country for about a month now and just left the Grand Canyon several days ago! Krysten currently writes a blog, Riding In Shotgun, which documents their travels. I love reading her updates and having an up-close look at our beautiful country. This is technically her second trip across the country, so it's really unique because she knew how to plan for their trip before they left, getting them on the path to the coolest boutique hotels and small towns. You can follow them on Instagram as well at @RidingInShotgun. Definitely make sure to check them out. I have posted some of her most recent updates below to give you an idea of her style:
Before I end this post, did I mention it snowed almost all last week? Here is the view my parent's driveway in Montpelier, Virginia.
AND, Jd and I also made a pit stop at Pearl's Cupcake Shoppe. We had a gift card for $10 and scooped up four cupcakes for only $1.96! I was hesitant to try them because I am a fan of Carytown Cupcakes, but after trying Pearl's I have to say they beat the pants off of Carytown Cupcakes. I've never eaten a cupcake with that much flavor before! The cake was so moist and packed with flavor, plus the icing pairings were out of this world. I think we will be traveling the extra distance to go here from now on. Sorry Carytown!
