Hiking Mount Beacon

We hiked Mount Beacon! Before moving to New York, I never realized how much there was to do outside of the city, but recently we've been spending more and more time upstate. We took a trip to Beacon in September, but we didn't have a chance to go hiking so decided it was finally time! I've never actually officially been hiking, so this was sort of a first for me and I fell in love! It was exhausting, but once we got to the top it was breathtaking and totally worth it. We're planning to take more hiking trips so hopefully I'll be able to share more views like this!

If you live around New York, I highly recommend taking a day trip to Beacon for these views. The pictures don't even do it justice. Mount Beacon has so many different trails - you could spend an entire weekend on the mountain! We left Brooklyn around 5AM and took the first Metro North train straight to Beacon. The hike only took a few hours, but afterwards we rewarded ourselves with a double burger and beers - plus we did a little shopping - so we didn't get back to Brooklyn until around 8pm. If you're interested in hiking the trail, I recommend this guide - enjoy!
