Weekends bring lots of great things. More free time, good friends and good food, including these delicious homemade wonton mozzarella sticks. I know it's been a while since I update the blog, but February was a busy month with lots of exciting news! For starters, I accepted a new job at a company I thought I could only dream of working for and now by birthday is less a week away so you could say we're off to a good start in March. I will definitely be updating the blog more this month for you all, don't worry! Anyway, last weekend we decided to keep it simple and whip up these wonton mozzarella sticks, which are super simple and quick to make. Find the recipe below and enjoy.
WONTON MOZZARELLA STICKS
6 wonton wrappers
6 string cheese sticks
1 jar marinara sauce
3 cups canola oil (optional)
Preheat oven to 400F. Beat egg in a small dish for egg wash. Place one string cheese stick as close to the edge of the wonton wrapper as you can and brush with egg wash. Fold the sides in, and roll up as tightly as possible finishing with a brush of egg wash (see gif above). Repeat until you made each wonton mozzarella stick and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes to get the cheese melted.
Heat the canola oil in a skillet at about 325F. Add each mozzarella stick to the skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy (about 30-60 seconds on each side). Serve immediately with marinara sauce!
