We took a day trip to Beacon and explored the Dia:Beacon Museum, Main Street boutiques and ate really great food. This small town is less than 2 hours away on the Metro North and makes for a great weekend getaway. We arrived around noon and stayed until 6pm, but I recommend staying overnight if you can. There are several Bed and Breakfasts and affordable AirBnbs, or you can stay at the Roundhouse Hotel and fall asleep to the sound of a waterfall. Read on for more to do in Beacon, NY.
After the museum, we stopped in Poppy's for some burgers - I highly recommend this spot, they have an outdoor area and their burgers + fries are on point! It's a great spot to pop into for a beer after a long day or for a quick bite if you're hungry.
You can find these colorful socks in Dream In Plastic, a small shop where you can buy all of those unique knick-knacks you see floating around the web. They have great gifts for family and friends and are located right down the street from Poppy's.
We ended our day with tacos from Tito's - that colorful mural you saw at the beginning of this post spans an entire wall in this taco spot. We originally just stopped in for some water, but after seeing the menu we couldn't leave without getting something. These tacos were killer! If you're in the area I would definitely suggest stopping in. They have outdoor seating, beer and a laid back environment.
