How To Start Wedding Planning

It's only been a week, but I have already started getting my act together in preparation of the wedding. We haven't officially decided on a date yet, but we're aiming for May 5, 2018 - Cinco de Mayo! I just need to lock down a location and then I can officially lock down my date. Anyways, I've done some research in the past when my best friends have gotten engaged (Chrissy & Anna), but never to the amount of detail that I realize I have to do now.

I can be organized when I put my mind to it, and with something as big as a wedding I feel like organization is key so today I'm rounding up a list of the best wedding planning tools I have found so far.

Please feel free to send me more if you have any wedding planning recommendations that I haven't listed below!

1. Google Spreadsheet Wedding Planning Templates -  Back when my best friend Chrissy got engaged, I instantly began researching excel templates because I'm obsessed with excel. I found a few good templates that I have been trying out for my own wedding planning:

2. WeddingWire - I've recently joined WeddingWire and they have A TON of amazing tools. If you're only using WeddingWire for inspiration, then you need to take the next step and sign up because they actually create a a to-do list for you as soon as you set your date! I've bulleted out the perks below:

  • Creates To Do List with dates for you
  • Simple budget tracker
  • Includes recommendations for venues and more within To Do List so you can research as you go
  • Setup registry
  • App

3. The Knot - I actually just signed up for The Knot while I was doing some research and they are pretty similar to WeddingWire as far I can tell. You can create a budget, to do list and setup a registry! The main difference I have noticed so far is with the To Do List - WeddingWire's To Do List starts 2-3 months after The Knot's To Do List. The Knot also doesn't really have a budget tracker, you just input your total budget from what I can tell. I'll keep you posted on which works out better as I go.

  • Creates To Do List with dates for you
  • Can research venues and more
  • Setup registry
  • App

Those are the 3 tools that I have been using so far! Does anyone else have other recommendations or thoughts when deciding between The Knot and WeddingWire? Feel free to share in the comments below and I'll continue to refresh and update the list!
